Pi Beta Phi
Los Angeles-Santa Monica Alumnae Club
Local Philanthropic Service

Our club is Pi Phi Proud to partner with multiple philanthropies to benefit children in our community. We have adopted families through Friends & Helpers, read at underserved schools with Reading to Kids, and sorted books with Big Sunday. In addition, we've been featured in Pi Phi's Arrow magazine!

The Book Truck

The Book Truck helps break the cycle of poverty by increasing literacy skills among teens. Free books are provided to foster care and low-income teens in a way that gets teens who have never picked up a book to start reading. The truck travels throughout LA and brings together teens from across the city to learn about books through peer discussions and recommendations. Empowering teens with the skills and confidence to navigate the world of books gives them the tools to shape their futures. Thanks to the Pi Beta Phi Foundation, this organization has received a Fraternity Day of Service grant of 500 books at least 3 times as well as a $10,000 grant!

The America's Foundation

Each holiday season, members of the Los Angeles-Santa Monica Alumnae Club travel 160 miles away from home to visit another country in order to distribute gifts to underprivileged children of the Colonia La Esperanza school in Tijuana, Mexico. This very special day inlcudes a gift drive, a brick oven pizza party, and concludes with candy raining from three very large piñatas. Our support for The Americas Foundation at this event will helps continue to provide education for children in this under-developed community. What a way to celebrate the holidays!

Support us this year by purchasing a gift from our Amazon wishlist! Gifts will be shipped to our VP of Philanthropy, Isabel Diaz-Brady, wrapped at our annual holiday party, and hand-delivered to children in Tijuana.
